Woman jailed after robbing 79-year-old with a walking frame

A woman who stole cash from an old lady with a walking frame has been jailed for over three years.

Rachel Burgess, 33 and from Spon Street, told her 79-year-old victim she had a knife.

The victim had just taken £200 out at the Post Office in the city centre in order to pay her water bill.

Burgess targeted her on Lower Holyhead Road, saying: “I’m a druggie. Give me your money. I’ve got a knife in my pocket,” the Coventry Telegraph reports.

Burgess then searched through the victim’s bag and took the money.

She had over 60 previous offences. She pleaded guilty and was jailed for a total of three years and four months.
