Wolston woman jailed for four years after conning an old lady

A fraudster who conned an elderly lady out of over £150,000 has been jailed for four years.

Lynn Minrath, 42 years old and of Kelsey’s Close, Wolston, was found guilty of theft of the money, five counts of fraud by false representation and two counts of making a false instrument.

“Between January 2014 and January 2015, Minrath befriended the victim, a woman in her early 70s,” said Warwickshire Police.

She “undertook what was described in court as a ‘systematic and cynical campaign’ to take over her financial affairs stealing large sums of money used to fund a lifestyle of gambling and expensive holidays and other expensive purchases,” the force added.

And Detective Constable Marc Roberts added: “Warwickshire Police are committed to protecting the most vulnerable members of our society.

“We are pleased that the courts have recognised that this case involved a predatory offender deliberately targeting a vulnerable victim of crime and the impact and harm caused has been reflected in the sentencing.”
