A “strict search policy” will be in place at this year’s Godiva Festival after security procedures were reviewed, organisers have announced.

The free event, which will take place in War Memorial Park from July 7th until July 9th, will see acts like Example, The Darkness and Kate Nash take to the stage.

“Following recent, tragic events we have reviewed our safety procedures and this year we will be implementing a strict search policy for those entering the Main Arena,” said organisers.

“Everyone will be searched on the gates, so please ensure you arrive early and be patient while searches are carried out.

“For this reason, we ask that you don’t bring large bags into the Main Arena with you. Anyone found with any prohibited items such as drugs, weapons or alcohol will have their items confiscated and highlighted to the Police who will also be onsite.”
