Man who threatened to shoot police in Jobcentre to be sentenced

A man from Bell Green who threatened to kill a police officer is set to be sentenced today.

Nigel Barwell, 52 and from Copperas Street, turned up at the Jobcentre in Cofa Court in April 2016 for a capability assessment.

However, once there he told a nurse he would acquire a firearm then shoot himself and police.

The nurse called police and Barwell was later arrested.

The sentencing will take place at Warwick Crown Court.

Barwell was previously tried for the murder of 18-year-old Nicola Payne, who went missing in 1991. He was found not guilty.
