Don’t let trouble flare up: Sky Blues fans to be searched for flame devices at Shrewsbury

Police have told Sky Blues fans not to bring flares to tomorrow’s away match against Shrewsbury following trouble at previous games.

The BBC reports that police are promising a “robust searching operation” at the match, which takes place at the Shrewsbury ground – New Meadow – tomorrow.

It comes after three men were arrested in January for using flares during an on-pitch protest in Northampton. They later apologised.

The protests are against Sisu, Coventry City’s owners, and their management of the club.

“Our decision to interrupt the game was not an easy thing to do, but Sisu is destroying a community – this is more than just a football club,” the arrested men said.

“No-one is calling for violence, we are the first to disown that idea.”
