BREAKING: M6 chaos caused by paint thinner on carriageway, says ambulance service

This morning’s traffic chaos on the M6 was caused by a spillage of paint thinner, authorities have said.

“We received a call at 5.41am to reports of a multi-vehicle collision,” a spokesperson for West Midlands Ambulance Service said in a statement.

“A 38-year-old man was driving a stationary car when a lorry went into the back of the car, causing rear damage.

“The man complained of head and neck pain and was taken to Heartlands Hospital.

“The collision caused one lorry to leak 150 litres of paint thinner onto the carriageway.

“A second patient was also taken to Heartlands Hospital,” the spokesperson added.
