A rare Harry Potter postcard has been stolen in the West Midlands

A rare postcard containing a prequel to the Harry Potter series has been stolen during a burglary in South Birmingham.

West Midlands Police have asked fans to be on the lookout for the missing item.

“We are asking Harry Potter fans to help share our appeal after a rare Harry Potter prequel by JK Rowling was stolen,” they said.

“The story, penned personally by JK Rowling over 2 sides of an A5 postcard is extremely valuable & stolen during a burglary in Kings Heath.”

The item came into the owner’s possession when they bought it as part of an auction. The charity the purchase supported is called English PEN, which promotes the freedom to write.

JK Rowling took to Twitter to ask the public not to buy the item.
